The Significance of my Glogster

For the written part of my Glogster, I connected the word "Violence" to the novel Lord of the Flies in several ways. I talked about the transformation the boys underwent from peaceful to uncivilized, to show how extreme violence is possible for anyone when they are isolated, or separated from society. I also talked about the layers of violence in the story, to show that if we read in between the lines we can see that William Golding has written even more darkness into the plot than what we immediately see. I also have the denotatino of violence, as well as connotation, to show the different ways the word can be viewed. The images I chose were very symbolic of violence. I have a picture of the Devil to represent evil and the Lord of the Flies (which is also the picture of the pig's head on the stick). As well as those, I have the picture of Jack wearing paint. This represents how he is hiding his old self behind a mask, and is displaying a savage. He has left peace and civilization behind, and is physically displaying a new savage-like Jack. I believe that the pictures I used indirectly symbolize violence. Even the colours I chose were dark, representing evil, darkness, and violence. Overall I thinkI portrayed violence in several diverse ways.
